SHINE Authors is SHINE 4 Education’s flagship summer literacy program where upper-grade elementary students write, revise, and publish their own original short stories through a high-dignity, career-connected experience. Students meet for 18 sessions (Tuesdays/Thursdays, June 16–August 13, 2026) and finish with real, professional outcomes—publication and public sharing—so they don’t just practice writing, they leave seeing themselves as authors. 

This summer, SHINE plans to run three cohorts across the City of Fresno (locations TBD) to increase access across different communities. After the summer sessions, students will participate in a monthly reading tour through the end of the year, bringing their stories to community spaces across Fresno.
