An Online Event
The Lighthouse Film Festival is a student-led, student-produced event designed to provide opportunities for children to discover the wonders and joys of storytelling through film. Students are offered three genres: documentaries, public service announcements, and personal narratives. Using the theme of Overcoming the Odds, students will produce films to offer viewers hope, encouragement, and entertainment. The challenge of hosting a film festival during the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in new and exciting opportunities: SHINE 4 Education is able to open the contest nationwide, provide individual virtual tutoring sessions upon request, personally interview and honor each student filmmaker, and present the film festival on a live stream platform.
To participate in the film festival, students have an Adult Supervisor/Coach and complete both the submission form and media release form. Students must upload their films to YouTube and adhere to the genre-specific guidelines for films. Interviews and films will be released on SHINE 4 Education's media outlets. All films must be submitted by November 9th for consideration. Students who are unable to procure the necessary materials to make a short film are welcome to contact us for aid. Tutoring appointments are available down below. Scheduling must be done at a minimum of two days before the appointment. If you are unable to find an appointment in the times listed below, contact us for more information.
There are no regional restrictions for film submissions. If you are interested in working on the Lighthouse Film Festival, fill out the SHINE 4 Education Member application under "Get Involved".
